简 历:徐志平教授2002、2007年于清华大学获学士和博士, 2007-2008年和2008-2010年于美国Rice大学和麻省理工学院从事博士后研究,2010年任清华大学工程力学系、清华大学微纳米力学与多学科交叉创新研究中心副研究员、教授。徐志平博士的主要研究兴趣是基于微纳米结构的材料与器件研究,在此领域发表论文100余篇,2012年获得国家自然科学基金委优秀青年基金资助,2015年入选中组部万人计划青年拔尖人才。

摘  要:Pristine graphene with strong and resilient sp2 C-C bonds demonstrates exceptional mechanical strength of 120 GPa and breaking strain of 20%. However, it is well known that graphitic materials in the macroscopic forms, including carbon fibers, carbon nanotube fibers, graphene-derived fibers or membranes, usually feature tensile strength no higher than ~10 GPa, and strain to failure below ~2%. Based on multiscale theoretical analysis and computational studies, we elucidate the underlying emergent mechanisms by considering the constraints enforced during the material fabrication processes, which lead to the conclusion that the ultimate mechanical performance of graphitic materials is determined by the competition between weakening due to the presence of material defects, microstructural heterogeneity and interfacial load transfer mediated by inter-graphitic-layer crosslinks. Advices on the material design are then proposed, in the context of both structural and functional applications.
